Dry Bank of the Salt River

The dry bank of the Salt River in Tempe, Arizona, just months before the river was filled in. Environmentalists were worried about the lakes effects to the ecosystem. There were concerns about exotic species of turtles migrating from the Phoenix zoo, an increasing amount of disease carrying mosquitoes to the area, and an influx of birds disrupting flight paths.
